This is the eleventh themed exhibition from the collection of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art at Petrovka, dedicated to a broad understanding of the theme of artistic form in contemporary art. The pictorial, graphic, sculptural, and video and photographic works in the exhibition tell the story of how the artists of the 20th century progressively abandoned the material world. Each room of the museum is devoted to a certain method or technique.
Visitors can see how Vladimir Nemukhin turned to geometric forms, while Ilya Kabakov and Aleksandr Leonov began to work with texts, ciphers, and numbers. Also on display are works by Evgeny Antufiev, Grisha Bruskin, Vadim Sidur, Zurab Tsereteli, and others. The viewer, following the line of the exhibition’s narrative, will gain a new view of the stages of development of the national art scene.
