The first section of the Velo1 cycling route between Moscow and St. Petersburg opened on 12 September. The 20-kilometre section connects the town of Yakhroma to the Udarny Pier. The next section, from Yakhroma to Dubna, is scheduled to open by the end of the year.

The cycling route will have all the necessary travel infrastructure (places for sleeping and rest, repair stations). When designing and building the route, the experts took into account the experience of cyclists and modelled future trips based on the landscape, climate and local specifics.

Velo1 will be the first cycling-only route between Moscow and St. Petersburg. It will exceed 1,000 kilometres in length and will pass along 300 settlements and 400 cultural, historical and natural attractions. The route will be free to use.
