On July 30, the Geek Picnic will take place in Muzeon Arts Park. It is an international outdoor festival of popular science, which introduces people to the latest achievements in science, technology and engineering. Visitors will enjoy master classes, lectures and exhibitions.
There will be an exhibition of the latest gadgets from around the world for the first time at the festival: guests will see the smallest phone, a pet feeder with built-in video camera, and will be able to test a rocking chair with levitation for shoes. For girls, there will be a special beauty-zone, which will feature the latest inventions to retain beauty, such as a smart mirror, a home cosmetics unit and more.
In the Film Fantasy pavilion, Russian fantasy film producers will present exhibits from filming, talk about creating the fantasy film genre, and hold workshops. In the adjacent VR-zone, everyone can take a virtual journey through meta-villages and learn how to exist in virtual worlds; organizers will talk about the ethical norms of the VR-world, and teach how to create an avatar.
One of the main picnic events will be an exhibition-parade of unusual homemade electric cars in the style of Burning man. Some unusual robots will also feature: a robot android that serves drinks, and a robot angel that spreads its wings to a person approaching it.
In the startup zone, highly unusual solutions for various occasions will be presented: for example, a special device makes soap out of mosquitoes.
The educational program will include nine lectures on urbanism, ecology, cybersports, science and space, and biotechnology. The exhibition area will present to visitors objects of science art from popular Russian artists, unusual furniture made of old planes, and much more.
