Varenichnaya No. 1 is a chain of cozy cafes. Their interior is most similar to a Soviet living room: checkered sofas, woven lampshades, bookcases with books, black-and-white photographs on the walls, and potted plants on the windowsills.
There are over fifty items on the menu. The main dish here is dumplings, there are more than twenty types of them. There are hearty ones: with potatoes, cabbage, mushrooms, veal, pork, lamb and their variations in pots with fried meat. And there are sweet ones, with cottage cheese and raisins, apples, cherries, black currants. For those who like something more unusual, a special offer from the chef is available: bird cherry and poppy seed, vegetable, beetroot and rabbit julienne dumplings.
If you don’t feel like dumplings, you can order other dishes, the taste of which is familiar to every Russian from childhood: borscht, herring “under a fur coat”, and fried pike perch. There are also dishes made from seasonal products every month.
