Matryoshka Restaurant

Guide to the world of Russian cuisine

матрешка.jpeg

Titled restaurant of Russian cuisine by Maison Dellos on Taras Shevchenko embankment. Matryoshka is among the most successful restaurants according to Forbes, and is noted by authoritative gastronomic guides: the Scandinavian 12 forward by White Guide and the French Gault Millau.

The interior of the restaurant refers to the era of industrial palaces, popular in London and New York: here a piece of antique furniture, such as a vintage apothecary bar, can coexist harmoniously with brutal forged and cast-iron elements. But the main advantage is in the panoramic windows overlooking the Moskva River and the open kitchen.

Vladislav Piskunov, chef and author of cookbooks, is in charge of the Matryoshka menu. He is also a connoisseur of Russian history, traditions and everyday life. Piskunov found old recipes and adapted them, like a Russian fairy tale, in a new way. The dishes include Pacific sardine “under a fur coat”, quail côtelette de volaille, salted Siberian fish and much more. The produce in Matryoshka comes from the regions: fish from Yakutia and Kamchatka, nuts and berries from Moscow Region, and honey from Bashkiria.
