At one time, the site of the mall, Khodynka field, was Moscow’s first airfield, and then an aircraft boneyard. In 2014, a giant shopping and entertainment complex opened. Aviapark, with an area of 400,000 square meters is the now largest shopping mall in Europe. Over four floors, there are more than 500 stores, game parks and educational centers for children, an ice rink, and a sports arena, as well as numerous restaurants. Also adjacent to the mall is the Khodynskoe Pole park with a light fountain, sports fields, and elaborate mirror installations.
As you enter the mall, you’ll be faced with its hallmark, a giant cylindrical aquarium displaying marine species from the Red Sea, right on the ground floor. There are clothing, furniture, and home accessories stores on the first three floors. The first IKEA City (where you can work on your interior design and order furniture) in Russia was opened here. You’ll find international clothing brands right alongside one-of-a-kind Russian capsule collections. Aviapark offers many options for kids: the Lego learning space, Kidzania amusement and career park, VR entertainment zones, a trampoline park, and an adventure game laboratory.
