Maximum Vinyl is located in one of Moscow's main cultural clusters, Aviator art space on Olkhovskaya street. The store's owners, frontman of the band Tarakany Dmitry Spirin and the DJ Ilya Kot, adhere to a DIY ethos and favor the conscious choice of music over the mindless consumption of content. They select the vinyl records in European stores and at music festivals themselves, so every item in the shop has a special history.
Although the store specializes in punk rock classics and contemporary experimental music, you can find jazz, funk, and Soviet pop music here as well. You can also make a pre-order to get an album you want from abroad. The store offers a decent variety of music on analog media, CDs, and tape records. It also has a selection of music books that can compete with that of specialized stores. As an extra bonus, you get a good discount if you buy several records at once.
